Wardrobe Wednesday - Where the Wheels Come Off

Every Wednesday, Every Wardrobe Welcome.

Thanks so much for coming to play today apologies if the linky disappeared while you we trying to link up last week or if I didn't make it over to comment, the linky seemed to get itself into a tangle. :o) But it should be all sorted now.

So... as much as this is a linky about making time each week to put on something more glamorous than your matching velvet tracksuit with the worn knees I must confess it's actually dressing down where I feel most out of my depth.

Effortless casual seems like a look I just can't pull off confidently. I'm fine at the extremes - I can do homeless bush dweller quite convincingly and I can do 'I have gone to some effort and my tights match my outfit' but there is a gaping hole in the middle that I feel a bit adrift with.

How about you? Do you find it easy to wear something casual but still with a bit of spark and 'something'? I always feel when I go for casual I just look boring. What is it that makes a casual outfit work?

This week I am showing you my casual side. A denim skirt I made then chopped the bottom off and a hand-me-down designer top. Does it work for casual or is it still dressed up? Shoes are cheap and cheerful and if the photos were larger you'd have the joy of prickly legs to look at too.

Is is fun casual? or just ho-hum boring? Or not casual at all? Maybe I belonged in the 1950s when casual had a matching hat and gloves.

I'm so enjoying visiting all your wardrobes and I do make time to come and visit and comment on every one (except when the linky tool breaks and I can't find you!). Happy Wednesday ladies. x

So what is Wardrobe Wednesday?
  • It's a chance to take some time once a week to peel off the polar fleece trackies (I have a pair too!!) and put on something that gives you a chance to have a 'play' in your wardrobe, to make yourself  feel like you are worth the effort.
  •  It's a time to celebrate and hopefully to embrace your body however you find it - post baby, young or old your body is lovely and functional and precious and I want this place to be a place for you to see other women (ordinary, beautiful women) who don't live in designer homes on designer budgets with designer bodies.
How to play?
1. Link in your specific blog post not just your general blog
2. Link to a post about clothes - that's what we're here for
3. Please add a link back here so other people can come over and see people's clothing posts too - the old fashioned way or grab a button
4. Be encouraging and visit people - leave a comment now and again too everyone loves to get encouragement

Here's the button copy and paste away

I think your casual outfit looks fantastic. The top has loads of detail and the shoes are colourful and on trend (by the way where did you get them?).

Casual is really comfortable isn't it? Maybe next weeks Wardrobe Wednesday could be styling Jeans and a T-Shirt? That would be a fun way to see how people do casual!

Love your outfit as over usual. I am completely comfortable with boring casual and feel like a duck out of water having to dress up even a little! Back in the day when I worked in an corporate environment it was fine but I struggle to do it now that I'm out?! Your outfit is a smart-casual look to me! Love it x

That off the shoulder looks hawt! I think you've pretty much nailed it. Denim is perfect for casual looks, can't go wrong there

Yes indeed might be fun to do as a challenge some time - or another linky altogether - how do you wear your jeans perhaps?

Thank you that is a very generous thing to say!

I really like your fun casual look -- especially the shape of the denim skirt, plus the extra special off-the-shoulder detail of the top. Lovely combo! :)

Thanks - glad to know I'm not the only one who feels that way. LOVE your outfit this week.

Thank you - the skirt is very easy to work which makes it versatile. I'm glad I shortened it.

I forgot to link up! I can't believe it. I guess I'm arriving "fashionably late" to this fashion party. Thanks for hostessing, Miriam. Better late than never, eh? ~Sarah
