Make My Week and Wardrobe Wednesday - New Look Workroom 6070

So a while ago my sister made this very same pattern - you can see her very sexy version here.

I loved it on her but generally thought it wouldn't be great for me because her and I have very different body shapes. However,  I tried her version on and it fit me perfectly and I liked it on.... the fact that it fit me was really bazaar too.

She is a size 10 pretty much everywhere, mostly straight up and down, lovely long straight up and down legs, and side on much narrower than me.

I am a 12 and sometimes a 14 on the top, I go in and out (The Atlas calls them dangerous curves - I love that guy!), I have 'athletic looking' legs and I have very broad shoulders and I'm generally bigger side on.

She also has opposite colouring to me as well - anyone would think she belonged to the postie!! (My dad was a postie when she was born... so that's kind of an 'in' joke)

So I am surprised and thrilled that this pattern works SO well on us both. (I think it's perhaps slightly better on her). I would never have picked the pattern from the envelope either..... it's also a 'completely from stash' pattern. Zip - exposed, lining, fabric all in the stash and pattern borrowed.

And just for fun the round the house version - in my new Cath Kidston apron and The Atlas slippers! So stylish no? This is how I wore it for washing dishes, making tortillas, baking cupcakes...

Tasty Tuesday

I often find with recipes that they make soo much less than they say they will

ever made a 'yields 36' and found that you end up with more like 12?

not so with todays recipe

it comes from the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook

these are peanut butter and dark chocolate cookies and the recipe is supposed to make 24 but it makes about 40 and they are HUGE - I guess because it's cafe size they make even bigger ones for selling.

B.M.W.B - Secret Service

I'm pretty good at telling my boys how much I love them.

They get a lot of snuggles and cuddles and kisses.

and as a mama of course I do a million different things for them everyday but sometimes it is good to do

something unexpected for them.

A while a go we bought 2 sets of bunks so we have 4 beds in the boys room. The boys make their bed every morning and I don't interfere so often they look less than hotel standard (to say the least).

So on Friday just for a surprise I made their beds up (all 4) so when they got home the beds looked very inviting. I do love getting into a beautifully made bed. Bunks are hard work to make properly!!

It's nice to do 'acts of service' now and again, it's certainly not the way I usually love on them.

Becoming the Mama I want to be is about taking time to enjoy the journey of parenting, to honour it's value and to hopefully inspire and encourage each other.

- lazy Sundays free concerts, listening to this beautiful, talented, related woman.

What person in your life is equal to loving you and challenging you?and I'm grateful for the man that loves me and is equal to the task of loving me and helping me grow...so grateful for him everyday. He is both a man and a boy in equal and delightful measure. (and I tell him that a lot even though it would mean a lot more to him if I did the dishes.... acts of service not my strength, words of love - well I get an A+ for that!!)

Make My Week - more from stash

This year I joined in with Nin's scrap swap and got it we needed to make a little bag to send some scraps in.

I was given Louana and I thought I'd make a wee 'library bag' style tote rather than trying to make something complicated and not execute it well.

I used a navy scrap, some canvas strapping and a beautiful doily.

I actually got quite excited about the tiny white stitches on the navy inside the bag...reminded me of the Japanese style of Shibori stitching.

It was nice to send away something I liked - these swaps can be fraught with self doubt and 'performance anxiety' sometimes!!

I also thought I'd include a photo of the stitching I did a while ago which I have finally got framed. I love the black matt and frame with the oblong outside and square opening. Although trying to take a picture of it was annoying because of the reflection factor.

I love having things on the walls. There is a bit of stitching now so I might need to start doing it for other people I don't want to venture into the obsessive.....

Wardrobe Wednesday - when changes are demanded

I started the day in this ensemble but during the day I swapped bikes with a friend for a couple of days so I ended up on a mountain style bike with a boys frame, not my usual lady bike with basket and bell.

So I needed to change.

And I had no basket so I had to use a back pack - call me vain but I do hate back packs - sweaty on the back, ugly.... give me a basket with an handbag in it any day!!

I made this skirt a very long time ago but it was always a bit long. So the other morning I whipped the hem up just before we left for school.
