Wardrobe Wednesday - Let's Start With Dresses

Okay so I felt one week wasn't going to give me time to properly inventorise my wardrobe so I have started with dresses

I like dresses, especially in summer, throw one on and you're good to go - couldn't be simpler. I actually want to make a few more for winter... they are so fun to make too.

so the number is big but I assure you they are getting worn, promise..

So in total I have......

 48 Dresses

I break these down into

Formal dresses - 7
for a ball or other special occasion (anything else is fair game, these are full length super star numbers or not the kind to bike to school in - bridesmaids type dresses) I include my wedding dress in this count even though it's actually 2 pieces. I wore the bottom half of it twice last year. There are a couple here I need to try on again and decide if I want to keep

these are mainly bought or gifted one is hand made

Standard dresses - 41

of these standard dresses
25/41 are hand made (20 in the last 2 years)
 4/41 are hand me downs
 6/41 from op-shops
 6/41 bought brand new or given to me as a gift brand new (years purchased/given 1999, 2002, 2002, 2005, 2011, 2011)

are you are dress lover or I am out on a limb here with my massive count??? (to see my sister's count have a look in the comments she promised to do it with me)

I have got rid of some dresses before counting so I can honestly say these are all dresses that have been worn frequently (with the exception of the super formal) there are a couple I need to give a make over to so I can wear them more.

Outfit:
Top - Melbourne Op-Shop
Skirt - Handmade
Tights - Cosmic Corner
Shoes - 25cents off trade me (in a bunch of 4 for $1)
Necklace - gift from Freedom Creative

So what is Wardrobe Wednesday?
  • It's a chance to take some time once a week to peel off the polar fleece trackies (I have a pair too!!) and put on something that gives you a chance to have a 'play' in your wardrobe, to make yourself feel pretty/ stylish/ like a woman or at least not slummy!
  •  It's a time to celebrate and hopefully to embrace your body however you find it - post baby, young or old your body is lovely and functional and precious and I want this place to be a place for you to see other women (ordinary, beautiful women) who don't live in designer homes on designer budgets with designer bodies.
How to play?
1. Link in your specific blog post not just your general blog
2. Link to a post about clothes - that's what we're here for
3. Please add a link back here so other people can come over and see people's clothing posts too - the old fashioned way or grab a button
4. Be encouraging and visit people - leave a comment now and again too everyone loves to get encouragement

Here's the button copy and paste away

Create Hope Inspire Wardrobe Wednesday

How many dresses do you own that you wear frequently?
Do you keep some dresses for special occasions only or do you wear them to bike your kids to school (or similar?)
What shall I count next??

Hi There 2013

And here we are on the very edge of a new year
- filled with a sense of something -
anticipation? hope? excitement?  anxiety? possibility?

52 new weeks to experience

and a time for setting goals

for re-aligning ourselves

for setting our eyes and our ships towards the lands we wish to discover

I love the beginning of a new year, the sense of a fresh start, the time to think about what matters

This year I have goals and aims for sure, some concrete and others less so, but for me there is also a sense of making way - making space - and making room in my life for the unexpected things that He might have for me and for us..... in the face of the unknown I choose to trust.

I've written some 'loose' creative goals for myself which I hope to achieve but am not dominated by (never fear mama!!) - they are on my 2013 page at the top if you want to have a look.

Mainly though this is probably what you can expect here this year:

Mama Mondays - Becoming the Mama I Want to Be - this will be more of the same of last year but also a linky for people to join in on. Want to know more? Have a look here.
Create Hope Inspire

Tasty Tuesdays - I'd like to extend my baking repertoire (I do love baking and I do do rather a lot of it) so I am aiming to try a new recipe from one of these beautiful books every week of the year

Wardrobe Wednesdays -More of the same whatever I'd like to wear, whatever you'd like to wear and a whole lot of loving each other for it :o)

Creative Thursdays - is the day I'll share the creating I'm doing - most weeks but maybe not making something every week like I have for the last 2 years. When I do I'll be joining in here.
 Show & Tell Thursday's

Grateful Fridays - taking time to be grateful for the goodness in my life. When I do I'll be joining in here.

So that might sound like a lot of posting but I'm happy to take it easy on the bigger weeks and busy seasons and let things slide. And every now and again I'll just post about whatever ramblings come into my mind. And over the summer I might not post as frequently. Okay?

Do you have goals for 2013?

and seeing as it's Tuesday!! here is my first recipe - fresh from the Frankie recipe book (bought for $2 in Melbourne) Yo-Yos or Melting Moments. First time I've ever made them.

Bounce likes the 'Yo-Go's' but he's keen to check I'll still make his favourite chocolate chippies now and again.

Later this week I'll be posting a bit about my 'words' for this year.

B.M.W.B - In Reality

Blogging is really good for me because it makes me accountable - if I had said to myself this year 'I want to make my boys my biggest project this year, I'll make time to do one really intentional focussed thing with them at least once a week' and not told you - it would have fallen by the wayside.

I am what you'd call an enthusiastic starter, full of ideas, a person with really good intentions - notice there is no mention of follow through or finishing?? Yup - not so good at this.

So I want you to know that this week our special, fun, wonderful park-time - playing, swinging, chasing, chatting - came out of my need to have something for BMWB. Flip suggested it and I was going to say no because I had some bread half-risen, (that I would later ruin- see yesterdays post!!) but instead I got out with my boys in the warm wind and had a wonderful time at the local park - so I had something to blog about.... yes ,this week you were a reason for prioritizing my boys - not proud of that but I want to be honest and encouraging here - not perfect!

Truth is I adore spending time with my boys. I am ALWAYS glad when I do. They are my favourite people to hang with and BMWB has been the best thing I've decided to do this year.
When we got home I also arranged a 'mighty pillow war'... for fun and Ma'n'Pop turned up by surprise and joined in too - super fun. Mummy and Daddy lost!!

And Bounce and I had a great time earlier in the week playing with buttons and sorting them into colours.

So thanks for giving me the incentive and accountability I need to ENJOY and celebrate the awesome role of parenting the 2 cutest people I know.

This year I am making more of a conscious effort to have quality moments with my boys. B.M.W.B (becoming the mama I want to be)  is my way of recording and hopefully inspiring other mama’s too. Please inspire me with the little moments you are snatching with your little people OR with ideas I could do with mine. If you have blogged about it please leave a comment so we can all visit and encourage each other.

Simple. Achievable. Intentional: becoming the mama I want to be.
