Things You Say

For the longest time Bounce's favourite bedtime song has been 'This Little Light of Mine'.

The other day he said to me, mama what's a lidamine?

Yes, it is true for the past year and half when I have sung this almost every night he has heard this little lidamine....

I'm sure the song makes much more sense now.

love you more than a lidacomprehension xxx

things the 5 year old says

The Atlas suggests the boys might like to watch a little bit of star wars together. (They've never watched the whole thing just little snippets like the pod racing.)

Bounce says, 'I want the bit with the boobies. I want the boobies. Boobies, boobies, boobies'

My eyes are large and I am looking at The Atlas like 'boobies????'

Turns out he wants the bit with the little bear/ewok thingys in the woods when they do their fight. (It's in movie 6 - the last of the original ones).

There are no boobies in it, well none that I call boobies. Plenty of what Bounce calls boobies.

We might need to help him come up with a new name for them I think.

love you more than a boobie crisis averted xxxx

Shower Conversations with a 7 Year-Old

Me: Why aren't you using the glove (exfoliation thing-a-me) to get all the dirt off your knees?

Flip: I accidentally wee'd on it.

Glad I asked about that one because it had been put back on the shelf for me to use the next day. Having kids? Keeps you real. I love that.

sandpit conversations

Flip: just pretend it's a sewage dolphin, it swims in sewage and everyone loves it

Bounce: here comes trucks, they're picking up the trucks

Flip: okay we'll drive over the sewage, watch out dolphin! We need more rubbish, rubbish alert, rubbish alert!

Washing has been dried on the line, coats of varnish on a project and laughter from the sandpit..... the promise of Spring hangs in the air and the holidays draw, sadly, to a close.

Happy Friday, Sad Friday (I love the holidays)

and just for good measure some of my favourite holiday shots - four square men, a very special little moment between Flip and Stella's little E, shark attack, and seriously, don't follow me - follow Jesus!....

Love you more than a sewage dolphin xx

Winner and Other Random Stuff Kids Say

The 4 year old:

Me: Pardon Me
Bounce: Me?
Me: No, pardon me
Bounce: But I didn't blow off
Me: No I did
Bounce: Oh

The 7 year old:

(we were having a getting changed relay - as you do)
Flip: Why do you always wear these covers? (bra)
Me: Because I need them to hold my bosoms in place so they don't knock me out when I jump about
Flip: I know, on wipeout (the favourite programme) they should say none of the ladies can wear bosom covers then they would all be knocked out. (laughs)

Boys?!

Winner of the Stuck On You voucher -congrats to - Holly

The Emperor's New Clothes

There is a man cleaning our chimney

Bounce: You've got a hole in your sock

(thankfully he didn't seem offended)
If a 4 year old can't tell it like it is - who can?

Also one of my posts - entitled The Juxtaposition seems to be attracting a lot more traffic than any of my posts warrant.... I wonder why and would I have had so many hits if it was called The Missionary Position???

Words You Say

Bounce: I remember being in your tummy mama

Mama: What could you see?

Flip: Water - you could see water

Bounce: Yeah, oh no actually milk, there was lots of milk. And I could see your heart (eyes shining looking excited). And I could see the inside of your eyes. I still remember how that looks.

Happy last day of holidays xx I wish they were another week long

friday classics

fish language - on the way to school this week I heard Flip telling Bounce he could speak fish language. Bounce said he could too but Flip said 'no you can't but I can introduce you to the fish and then when they know you, you will be able to speak their language'.

4 year old knowing and wonder - we had a beautiful Christmas celebration with some other families this week and Santa came with gifts for each family. Bounce informed me seriously and quietly that 'Santa was actually Sam's Dad'. Then the next morning when the Wise Men had moved from the bathroom to the top of the fish tank he said to The Atlas - 'How could the Wise Men have made it over there? They must have climbed down and crossed the kitchen under the table, climbed the draws and heaved (don't you love 4 year old words!) themselves onto the fish tank. It's amazing.'

I love the look of wonder on the children's faces when Santa arrived even though they 'knew' who he was. They are at this beautiful place of fully entering in to the magic even if they know the truth.

We received all the pieces to make a gingerbread house - Whoop!!

There is actually heaps to love this week and so much of it is about the boys so I might just do another post about them over the weekend. I am so enjoying this Advent season.

Head over to Meghan's the home of taking time to be grateful each week.
