B.M.W.B #47 - Commentary

On Sunday evening we had dinner early and went for a walk together. Usually the boys would have headed off and done this while I made tea and I wouldn't have minded but I am being more mindful these days. More intentional to be involved to include myself in the adventure.

Having boys makes me acutely aware that if I don't choose to hang out there will be a time that they stop remembering to ask me.

While we were there I did some commentary on what they were doing. It is just as it sounds - being like a sports commentator and describing with enthusiasm all that they are doing.

The boys love this so, so much. Of course it shows that you are really paying attention - you can't make a comment on the moment they swerve to the side when you aren't watching.

I love watching them grow, seeing their delight. I love the special moments The Atlas and I share when we see them doing something that is as sweet as all the good things we know rolled up into one moment.

I do love these boys, unashamedly - they are my delight.

This year I am making more of a conscious effort to have quality moments with my boys. B.M.W.B (becoming the mama I want to be)  is my way of recording and hopefully inspiring other mama’s too. 

 Simple. Achievable. Intentional: becoming the mama I want to be.

I had a browse the other night and I came up with this wonderful selection of lovely things - beginning at $5! and this really is just a tiny example of some of the cool things that are there - I spent a bit of time in the jewellry department but there is so much more than that!

So if you have a special person you need to buy a gift for in NZ can I recommend this wonderful website? It is the brain-child of a fellow Christchurch woman Lucy Arnold - whom I have met a few times. She is lovely and talented and not at all in your face - just quietly getting on with providing a wonderful place for kiwi's to buy beautiful things.

This Christmas if you can't make your own you can still give handmade......

Make My Week #46 - Hoop Birth Record

I first saw this neat embroidery on Cat's blog here

and when I saw her last month I asked if I could copy it - I kind of free-handed it rather than properly followed because, well you know how I roll :o) (unless you are new in which case I'm not much of a pattern follower)

I have made this for my brand new beautiful niece and seeing as she is unlikely to see or remember this post I thought I'd debut it here.

My niece lives in London so this also has the advantage of being very light to send.

Wardrobe Wednesday - The Confessional Edition

Hi

I have a couple of confessions I'd like to make and I hope we can still be friends afterwards. Okay?

1. I kind of like to be matchy-matchy. I know it's kind of uncool to choose a couple of colours and use them right through an outfit without a sneaky pop of surprise. Perhaps it comes back to a lack of confidence with colour mixing or it might be my little thing for monochromatic schemes but I do like a bit of matchy-matchy now and again. In the blue dress picture with the yellow shoes??? Totally would have worn blue shoes but I was travelling and it was what I had - I didn't mind the yellow but I totally could (and probably would) have matchy-matchy'd it.

Blue and pink combo - even wearing my pink train necklace, probably decided the blue earrings were too much for the outfit.....

Yeah so I hope you can still respect me.

2. I don't look after my shoes.... I think this might be because re-healing them or whatever usually costs more than I spent on them in the first place. Maybe I'm lazy... that would be why none of them get cleaned or polished past a crazy wipe when I see something on them while I'm wearing them.....

So what is Wardrobe Wednesday?

• It's a chance to take some time once a week to peel off the polar fleece trackies (I have a pair too!!) and put on something that gives you a chance to have a 'play' in your wardrobe, to make yourself feel pretty/ stylish/ like a woman. 
•  It's a time to celebrate and hopefully to embrace your body however you find it - post baby, young or old your body is lovely and functional and precious and I want this place to be a place for you to see other women (ordinary, beautiful women) who don't live in designer homes on designer budgets with designer bodies.
